About Us

The Athlomics Group of Companies was founded in 2006 in Brisbane, Australia. Through its wholly-owned subsidiary, ImmuneXpress Inc., the Group operates its business development office in Seattle, WA, USA.

Athlomics's core competency is the discovery and clinical validation of genomic, proteomic and metabolomic biomarkers, and the development of reliable diagnostic and monitoring assays on readily available technology platforms.

Athlomics' future vision is to deliver its biomarker technologies on rapid point-of-care platforms for improved patient outcomes, reduced healthcare costs and better targeted therapies.

Athlomics's first multiplex molecular product, SeptiCyte® Lab, was launched in June, 2010 in kit format for qRT-PCR platforms.  The kit is currently supplied to our first customer and reference site, Mater Pathology in Brisbane, Australia

SeptiCyte® technology has been designed from inception for regular patient monitoring to improve the economics and quality of sepsis healthcare and the early detection of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs).

In the US, severe sepsis accounts for 20% of all admissions to ICU.

The cost of treating septic patients in an ICU can add $5,000 or more per day to a patient's bill, where treatment lasts at least two days and often more than 20 days.

Of the estimated 8.8 million deaths in children under 5 years worldwide in 2008, infectious diseases caused 68% or nearly 6 million. This equates to 11 deaths per second.
